NDIS Prep
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an ever-evolving social scheme that is based on an insurance model. This means that the scheme is setup in a way that ensures:
- it has enough money to quickly pay any claims by consumers -in NDIS terms consumers are called ‘participants’,
- it is ‘sustainable’ – which means will still be able to ‘stay in business’ after paying all participants’ claims,
- it can make good estimates about how much money will be required by NDIS participants in the future.
As a part of its planning the NDIS takes a lifetime approach which aims to invest in people in the early years, in order to set them up for adulthood and potentially decrease their anticipated future support costs. Due to all these intricacies the NDIS can be very confusing and complex to navigate.
Using the knowledge I have of the NDIS, my goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment to effectively assist and support you and your support networks to ensure that the individual’s goals, aspirations, rights and interests are heard and communicated effectively.
Preparing, managing and reviewing NDIS plans is an important process that takes into account many interacting parts and a wide range of information. I can assist you to better understand these processes and to build the skills that will help you to become increasingly confident as you navigate within the NDIS system.
I will work alongside you to:
- Assist you to complete the Access Request form to apply to become an NDIS participant;
- Once you become a participant, I can assist you to prepare for your NDIS Planning Meeting including discussing the NDIS funding options available to participants;
- Develop a document that you can take into your Planning Meeting that explains your short and long term ‘vision’ for your funding plan as well as the specific needs, wants, goals, and the implementation approaches you are requesting for your plan.
